Madison Mayor Paul Finley on Thursday morning thanked the community for its prayers following the arrest of his wife on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Julie Finley was arrested in Madison County Wednesday night following a traffic stop by a state trooper, according to published media reports. She was reportedly released from the Madison County Jail Thursday morning after posting a $1,000 bond.
“Today, I come to each of you in an open letter as a humble husband, father and mayor. Last evening my family experienced a very serious situation in which my wife was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. I feel it appropriate that you, our extended family, hear it directly from me,” Finley said in a statement to the media. “In these days ahead, we will seek healing and understanding and do not even attempt to hide or down play the seriousness of what has occurred.”
