The district will host Internet Safety Day at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Athens Middle School auditorium.

That day, students throughout the district will be encouraged to sign an Internet safety pledge. Students from Athens Intermediate, Athens Middle and Athens High schools will also participate in a school-wide program about ways to remain safe while using the Internet, according to Chris Hamilton, coordinator of technology resources for city schools. Chief speaker at the event will be Greg Price, chief information officer for Troy University’s Forensic Computer Institute.

Other guest speakers will include Limestone County District Attorney Brian Jones and Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson.

During the event, a Dell notebook computer, an Apple iPad and an Acer android tablet computer will be given away.
