BAY MINETTE, Ala. (AP) — A 45-year-old man has been found guilty by a jury in a capital murder-rape trial in Baldwin County and was sentenced to life without parole under a plea deal.
Troy MacDonald was found guilty on Thursday of killing 21-year-old Brianna Parish in 2008. Parish disappeared on Nov. 12, 2008. Her body was found days later.
MacDonald confessed to the killing last month in exchange for prosecutors dropping the death penalty.
Alabama law requires a trial in capital murder cases even if the defendant has pleaded guilty.
