The Athena League will sponsor its annual Apple Annie Charity Golf Tournament Sept. 18 at Canebrake Golf Club.

Registration begins at noon with a shotgun start for the four-person scramble at 1 p.m.

Proceeds from the event go to Hospice of Limestone County and the Athens-Limestone Hospital Foundation. The Athena League also donates 5 percent of proceeds to the Athena League Scholarship Fund.

The entry fee is $500 per team or $125 per player. The fee includes a ticket to a charity party, dinner, on-course beverages and door prizes.

In conjunction with the tournament, Alabama Watersports will hold a putting contest with $10,000 in prizes.

In addition, players will have a chance to win a Traeger Grill from West End Market and a $1,000 gift certificate from Osborne Jewelers, as well as cash prizes in each of two flights. Skill prizes are given to those who get closest to the pin on par 3 holes.

The Athena League has been raising funds to benefit non-profit organizations representing women and children in the Limestone County area since 1972.
