West Limestone’s boys cross country team placed ninth in the Bronze Division of the Jesse Owens Classic over the weekend. Elkmont finished 20th among the 36 teams in the division.
Elkmont’s Tyler Helms finished 15th individually in the 359-man Bronze Division race with a time of 17:40.
Thomas Peek was the first Wildcat runner to finish, placing 46th with a time of 18:21. Jordan Romine followed at 49th with a time of 18:29. Teammate Jacob Martin was 52nd with a time of 18:31.
In the Green Division, Athens Bible placed 12th out of 16 teams.
Eighth-grader Dalton Adams paced the Trojans, finishing 55th with a time of 19:55. Walt Purner was 73rd with a time of 20:20, while his brother Will Purner was 76th with a time of 20:22. Jeb Hagewood was 80th with a time of 20:30.
The Athens High School boys were 19th out of 44 teams participating in the Silver Division of the Classic.
Tate Carden was 57th individually for the Golden Eagles with a time of 17:45.
On the girls’ side, Athens Bible placed seventh among 15 teams in the Green Division.
Lady Trojans runner Ashley Riggins placed in the top 15, finishing 14th with a time of 22:35. Becca Harwell was 44th with a time of 24:44, followed by Emma Ulrich at 45th with a time of 24:45. Catherine Butler was 50th with a time of 25:21.
Elkmont was 21st in the Bronze Division, followed by West Limestone at 22nd.
Clements High’s Allison Jay, who competed as an individual, finished 19th with a time of 19:21.
West Limestone’s Kenley Crouch was 58th with a time of 22:44.
